No wait, impressed is not the word I was looking for. Annoyed, that's the word. I know, I know, another thing for me to complain about, but I think this deserves it. I first want to say that it's not just the Air that annoys me, it's Apple as a company. The pretentious commercials with pseudo-indie music playing, the "I'm a Mac; I'm a PC" bit, the over -hyping of their ...More »

Old Spice must have hired some hip new PR agency because their commercials as of late have been enjoyable and funny.  This new one is especially hilarious.  I feel so strongly about this commercial that I'm willing to give Old Spice free advertising here: Let me know if the link breaks and I'll try to find another one. ...Yet for some reason Tony Sinclair, their fictional TV spokesman, keeps asking if I Tanqueray, or offers some witty comment as to how one would Tanqueray. To be honest I really had no idea that Tanqueray was gin until I looked it up. I read a funny anecdote about gin the other day. It has a nickname, "mother's ruin", because it was often used to induce a miscarriage well into the 20th century. ...More »

I'm talking about "You Don't Mess with the Zohan", a flick about an Israeli intelligence officer who fakes his own death to get out of that life and set up a new one in New York City as a hair stylist. Needless to say, the previews so far make it look really random, unnecessary, and not funny. Ok maybe I'm judging it prematurely. I mean it is co-written by Judd Apatow (think "Freaks and ...More »

The new Chevy Tahoe Hybrid is turning heads.  No, not because it's revolutionary.  It's turning heads because they claim that it's a hybrid yet it only gets 20 mpg.  Hmm, the last time I checked 20 mpg falls under the category of gas-guzzling SUV, not hybrid.  So I'm going to have to go ahead and take a cue from Bill Maher in declaring a new rule: Anything less than 40 mpg cannot be called a ...More »

House, M.D. apparently works in the most interesting hospital on the planet.  That's the problem with these hospital dramas; they have to incorporate all these absurd medical issues to keep the show interesting each week because good plot lines and story arcs are out of the question.  Mix all that in with a smug doctor who always has something clever to say and you've got TV gold.  Oh well, at least once the pre-writers-strike episodes ...More »

I happened across a post on a forum I frequent that mentioned the beats and music being produced by Ronald Jenkees. Please take a few minutes to listen to his music because it's awesome: Remix to a Remix: Oklahoma Sooners Football player Malcolm Kelly rap over Remix to a Remix (no tempo change required according to Ronald): "A fun beat from outer space (an experimental improv jam)": "Improv on a new beat! Chick-fil-A makes one hell of a chicken sandwich.  Add a little mustard and/or mayo to it and it's heaven on a bun.  But come on, styrofoam cups?  Actually I guess I should capitalize the S in Styrofoam because that's a product, not a material.  Styrofoam is a trademarked name and belongs to the Dow Chemical Company.  To be more generic, I should say polystyrene cup.  Regardless, it seems like in this day and age polystyrene ...More »

You know, for a supposed liberal bias in the media, there sure are a lot of conservative TV pundits on the air.  Sure Hannity has Colmes, but Colmes doesn't get nearly as much talk time as his big-mouthed co-host.  And even on MSNBC, a more left-leaning pundit platform, Tucker has an hour where he can smugly share his version of the news.  But a shimmer of light in this crowded arena is ...More »

Last night on Monday Night Football, I heard Jay Cutler being compared to Brett Favre. ...Really? Sure they both pass a lot and throw a lot of interceptions, but are we really starting to compare this 2nd year QB to an 8x pro-bowler and future hall-of-famer? Please. I give Cutler 5 years before he either gets worn down too far to stay decent, or does something stupid to mess up his ...More »
